The thickness selection of wrapping film usually depends on the requirements of different applications, the weight, shape, transportation method, and storage conditions of the packaged items. The following are basic guidelines for selecting the thickness of wrapping film based on different industries or application scenarios:
1. Logistics and transportation industry
Common items: cardboard boxes, plastic pallets, metal, wood, furniture, etc.
Suggested thickness:
Lightweight items, such as cardboard boxes, plastic boxes, etc., usually choose 15-20 microns (μ m) of wrapping film.
Medium weight items: such as medium-sized goods or packaging, choose a wrapping film of 20-30 microns.
For heavy items such as steel, heavy equipment, and large machinery, it is recommended to choose a wrapping film of 30-50 microns or thicker to ensure load-bearing capacity and compressive strength.
2. Food industry
Common items: fresh fruits, vegetables, packaged meat, frozen foods, etc.
Suggested thickness:
Low weight and low strength requirements: For lightweight food or short-term packaging such as fruits and vegetables, choose a 15-20 micron wrapping film. Heavy objects or frozen products: For frozen foods or items that require stronger protection, it is recommended to choose a 20-30 micron film.
3. Manufacturing and Industrial Packaging
Common items: automotive parts, electrical products, machinery and equipment, tools, etc.
Suggested thickness:
Medium weight equipment: Use a 20-30 micron film to provide basic protection.
Heavy industrial equipment: For large equipment or mechanical parts, a 30-50 micron film can be selected to ensure that it will not be damaged or compressed during transportation.
4. Home and Furniture Industry
Common items: sofas, mattresses, furniture, decorations, etc.
Suggested thickness:
Furniture and household appliances: It is usually recommended to use a 30-50 micron wrapping film for large items, especially for surfaces that are prone to scratches or large furniture.
Decorations and small items: For lighter or less easily damaged decorations, a 20-30 micron film can be chosen.
