1.First, divide the weight range of the goods.

(1).Light goods: single box ≤ 20kg (express small items, snacks, small commodities, small cardboard boxes)

Characteristics of goods: The cardboard box is relatively small, the box is thin, and only prevents opening and scattering

Recommended specifications:Width: 8mm/9mm；Thickness: 0.7-0.9mm

Suitable for packaging: fully automatic express packaging machine, small semi-automatic machine

Binding method: single/double vertical tying, no need for cross shaped characters Low tensile demand, narrow and thin strips offer the highest cost-effectiveness

(2).Medium sized goods: 20-50kg (full box of daily necessities, liquor, grain and oil, ordinary food box)

Characteristics of goods: Conventional factory cardboard boxes, short distance transportation for warehousing, mainly single-layer stacking

12mm × 0.8-1.0mm (preferred for cost-effectiveness)；13mm × 1.0mm (heavy cardboard box, woven bag)

Binding method: Double vertical tying, heavier goods are packed in a cross shape.

(3).Medium and heavy goods: 50-100kg (feed bags, fertilizers, whole box household appliances, multi-layer stacked cardboard boxes)

Characteristics of goods: The container is under high pressure, long-distance transportation, multi-layer stacking, and prone to swelling and breakage

Recommended specifications:13mm × 1.1～1.2mm;16mm × 1.0～1.1mm.Widening and thickening to enhance tension and prevent transportation interruptions

(4).Heavy goods: above 100kg (stone, bricks, wooden blocks, pipes, whole pallet goods)

Characteristics of goods: hard heavy objects, pallets, multiple layers of high stacking, high impact force

Recommended specifications:16mm × 1.2～1.4mm;19mm × 1.3-1.5mm (heavy-duty top configuration).Paired with handheld electric baler and arrow type pallet baler

(1)Export/Food Industry

Priority should be given to brand new transparent materials, with a recommended thickness of 0.1mm for the same weight. The tensile strength should be stable without any recycled impurities to avoid customs questioning and transportation shortages.

(2).Handmade iron buckle packaging (building materials, bricks)

Multi use 16/19mm black return tape, fixed with iron buckles, low cost; Hot melt packaging prioritizes new materials with narrow, medium, and wide width.

(3).Multi layer stacking of pallets, long-distance logistics

Regardless of the weight of a single box, the entire pallet is packed with 16mm/19mm thick straps, combined with horizontal bundling and multiple reinforcement layers.

3.Key points for avoiding pitfalls

(1).Only consider weight, not size: even light goods with large boxes are prone to breakage and must be appropriately thickened;

(2).Blindly choosing narrow and thin options saves money: for heavy loads and long-distance transportation, the loss of damaged goods is much higher than the price difference of the packaging tape;

(3).Do not use thin packaging bags (woven bags) as they are prone to breakage;

(4).Most fully automatic strapping machines are suitable for 9/12mm, and 16/19mm require specialized heavy-duty strapping equipment.
