What is PE STRETCH FILM?
PE stretch film (also known as pe wrapping film) is a plastic film mainly made of LLDPE linear low-density polyethylene. It relies on the self adhesive force generated by stretching to firmly wrap pallet goods without glue. It has the characteristics of dust and moisture resistance, tear resistance, and high stretch rate. It is widely used in factory warehousing and foreign trade container transportation, can fix the entire pallet of goods, prevent loose cargo from collapsing during transportation, and has various specifications such as separation, machine use, UV resistance, black shading, etc.
Thickness of PE stretch film
Hand-use Pe Stretch Film
1.15~17μm
2.18~20μm
3.23μm
Machine-use Pe Stretch Film
1.15~17μm
2.20μm
3.23~25μm
4.28~30μm
The key influencing factors for choosing stretch film (thickness is not the only factor)
1.Sharp corners/puncture risk of goods: Wooden pallet nails, cardboard box hard corners, metal parts → priority thickening, or choose metallocene toughening film, with stronger puncture resistance of the same thickness
2.Mode of transport
Short distance factory area: can be thinned
Domestic long-distance land transportation: starting from a regular 20μm distance
Sea freight export: It is recommended to have a thickness of ≥ 23μm. Due to humidity and multiple loading and unloading, the film is prone to breakage
3.Raw material quality
Pure new material metallocene film, 20μm toughness>ordinary recycled material 25μm, procurement cannot only consider thickness.
Common Misconceptions
1.The thicker the film, the more stable it is: for the same net weight, the thicker the film, the fewer meters, and the higher the cost of consumables per pallet; Thick films with poor raw materials are still prone to breakage
2.Hand film instead of machine film: The formula for hand film is not suitable for high-speed pulling of machines, as it is prone to film breakage when used on machines
3.Only looking at thickness without considering net weight: Many businesses falsely label thickness, and when comparing quotes, costs must be calculated based on net film weight
